Manali: 24 Andhra students missing after water is released from dam

Mandi, Himachal Pradesh: 24 students from an engineering college in Hyderabad are feared to have been washed away in Beas river near Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. Six of them are girls.

The incident occurred at around 6:30 pm when the students, who were on their way to Manali for an excursion, were clicking pictures on the banks of the river. There was a sudden release of water from the Largi dam on the river in which the students are feared to have been swept away.

Larji Dam is located on Beas river near Mandi which is on highway towards Manali. Due to the hot weather, the water from the dam was released without warning.

The students are from V.N.R. Vignan Jyothi Engineering College in Hyderabad.
